St. Georg
Diversity on two square kilometres
There is no other neighbourhood in Hamburg, where as many opposites come together as in St. Georg. Reason for this could be the exciting history of the district.
In the Middle Ages the first leprosy hospital formed here and countless occupations settled in the area that were unwanted within the fortified city.
Only in the beginning of the 17. century Hamburgs citizens took notice of the small suburb. Still today the diversity is visible: arts and crafts, international cuisine, watersports, drugs, religious support, educational offers, affordable senior accommodation and expensive living influence the district today. Tour with us through this quarter.
